“Hydrate for Life” : ONE BOUGHT = ONE DONATED
We are thrilled to announce the WE GO GREEN “Hydrate for Life” : ONE BOUGHT = ONE DONATED bottle distribution to our charitable partners is under way! Thanks to your generous support 400 bottles will be donated to five local organizations to help promote health and wellness education to the community members they serve including: Horizons, The Community YMCA of Red Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, The Source at Red Bank Regional High School, and Cancer Support Community. WEforum partnered with these charitable organizations to help promote the dual message of educating community members on the environmental impact of disposable plastic bottlesand the health benefits of drinking more water instead of sugary drinks.
Horizons, The Community YMCA of Red Bank, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middlesex and Monmouth Counties each receive 100 bottles. The Source at Red Bank Regional High School will receive 50 while Cancer Support Community receives 25. WEforum’s Director of Strategic Development, Amy McDonagh, witnessed firsthand the impact the campaign has had on the recipients when she distributed the WE GO GREEN bottles to the Cancer Support Community members. “The recipients, many of whom are cancer survivors, were truly enthusiastic about understanding the implications plastic water bottles have on the environment and our health. They wanted to know why water and reducing plastic use matters to their well-being.” This positive takeaway truly goes to the heart of the WEforum mission to educate, empower and evolve as a community.
Marybeth Bull, Director of Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties (“BBBS”) explains how WE GO GREEN aligns with BBBS’s mission. “We work to promote healthy living and healthy choices by offering activities such as a healthy cooking class held by a chef at a local restaurant, Field day at Rutgers University with the student athletes, and annual pool party to name just a few. We coach the volunteer Bigs and the parents/guardians on modeling healthy lifestyles for the children by staying active and making positive food choices. The water bottles will reinforce the idea that water is the best choice for a healthy lifestyle. It’s a calorie free and hydrating beverage and with a reusable bottle it is environmentally the best choice as well. The BBBS Mission is driven by creating mentoring relationships between a Big Brother or Big Sister and their Little Brother or Little Sister. Part of the mentoring dynamic is for the Big to model positive behavior and promote healthy alternatives. This partnership complements our efforts well by providing a concrete tool – a reusable bottle – to reinforce choosing water to stay healthy and to help the environment.”
WE look forward to building more community partnerships like the ones fostered by the WE GO GREEN Campaign with organizations like these who work tirelessly to improve the lives of our communities! Please be sure to support WEforum’s retail partners who made the WE GO GREEN Campaign possible.
