You Are What You Eat! Role of Nutrition in Pediatrics

This panel will discuss the issue of nutrition as it relates to children.  Foods that children should avoid. How to get your child to make, eat and enjoy healthy foods. The importance of parents in selecting their children’s diet.

Objectives:

  • The learner will be able to explain the expert panel’s discussion of the importance of nutrition as it relates to children.
  • The learner will be able to discuss foods that children should avoid and how to get your child to make, eat and enjoy heathy foods.

 


 

Dr. Fisher received her undergraduate education at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA, and her medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine.  She completed her Pediatric Residency and Fellowship Training in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Philadelphia.  Her current appointment is Medical Director, The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center and Professor of Pediatrics, Drexel University College of Medicine.

Dr. Fisher’s academic activities include the following: frequent CME speaker locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally; Journal reviewer; former member of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases (Red Book),  AAP Committee on Continuing Medical Education,  Editorial Board of PREP Audio, Executive Committee of the AAP Section on Infectious Disease and former officer of the NJ Chapter; over 30 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, numerous invited articles, book chapters, audiotapes and one book.

Dr. Fisher has received awards for teaching, community service and service to the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She is involved in global health through the Gavi Vaccine Alliance, where she serves as Chair of the Civil Society Organizations Steering Committee, the Brighton Collaboration, where she is a Foundation Board member, the International Pediatric Association, where she is a member of the Scientific Committee for the 28th International Pediatric Association Congress, and the American Academy of Pediatrics where she is participating in a project with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide technical assistance to pediatric societies in Kenya, Nigeria and the Philippines.  Locally, Dr. Fisher serves on the Boards of Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, Monmouth Family Health Center, and the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium.
