Meditation with a Side of Forgiveness. Food for Thought and Better Health

Dr. Nidhi Kumar will discuss the benefits of meditation and the practice of forgiveness on health. Explore the effects of meditation on the cardiovascular system, immune system and brain.
Objectives:
- The learner will be able to describe the benefits of meditation and the practice of forgiveness on health.
- The learner will be able to restate the effects of meditation on the cardiovascular system, immune system and brain.
Dr. Kumar completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University and medical education at Rutgers University. She returned to New York City in 2003 and attended New York University for her Residency in Internal Medicine. After Residency, she stayed on as Chief Medical Resident; Kaya was born during her Chief Year. Dr. Kumar then went on to complete her Cardiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After her training was complete she retreated to New Jersey and joined her father, a Cardiologist, in Private Practice. Sai was born shortly thereafter. Dr. Kumar continues to practice Cardiology with her father and also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Medical School. Her areas of interest are Women’s Heart Disease and Pregnancy Related Heart Disease. When she is not working she enjoys meditation, skiing, surfing and managing Kaya’s soccer team.
Dr. Nidhi Kumar lives in New Jersey with her husband, Raj, an investment banker, their two daughters Kaya and Sai, and a Labradoodle named Aspen.
Dr. Kumar and her older daughter Kaya also co authored a series of children’s books that teach children to try new foods. The goal of this series is to lay the foundation for young children to embrace different cultures through the medium of food, to think from a global perspective and to eat mindfully. For more info:
