Join Monmouth Medical Center and WEforum for an Evening of Culinary Exploration and Mental Wellness Insights with Dr. Uma Naidoo and Chef Marcy Ragan at Marilyn Schlossbach’s Whitechapel Projects.

Monmouth Medical Center, in collaboration with WEforum, is pleased to announce an exclusive event, Eat for Life: Food for Thought, a curated dinner event featuring Dr. Uma Naidoo at Marilyn Schlossbach’s Whitechapel Projects coming Winter of 2025.

Renowned psychiatrist, nutritional expert, and author, Dr. Uma Naidoo, will unveil transformative insights on the crucial connection between nutrition and mental wellness as part of her current press tour for her new book, “Calm Your Mind with Food,” a highly anticipated follow-up to her acclaimed 2020 publication, “This is Your Brain on Food.”

With national and international recognition for her pioneering work, Dr. Naidoo has been featured in prestigious publications such as the Wall Street Journal, ABC News, Harvard Health Press, and Goop. As the founder and director of the Nutritional and Lifestyle Psychiatry department at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Dr. Naidoo is at the forefront of advancing the field of Nutritional Psychiatry.

Guests will have the opportunity to savor a multicourse dinner served in Marylin Schlossbach’s innovative Long Branch space, Whitechapel Projects. A long-time fixture on the New Jersey culinary scene, Marylin leverages her leadership, creativity, and values-driven ethic to advocate for social and environmental initiatives. Her New Jersey presence is a conduit for environmental and social justice and her community-driven work includes advocating for sustainable agriculture, accessible culinary and hospitality training, and dining destinations dedicated to flourishment of underserved communities.

The dinner will be meticulously curated by local chef Marcy Ragan, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, drawing inspiration from Dr. Naidoo’s groundbreaking research. The evening’s menu will showcase how food can be a powerful tool in promoting mental wellness.

WEforum’s Eat For Life initiative raises funds for free educational health and wellness programs and services at the LiveWell Center located at the Anne Vogel Family Care and Wellness Center in Eatontown. Funds will benefit the WEforum Demonstration Kitchen, a state-of-the-art kitchen that is part of the LiveWell Center, a 5,600 square foot portion of the Vogel outpatient facility located at the Monmouth Mall. LiveWell Center programs, all free, help community members prevent disease and live healthier lives through multiple pathways including programs highlighting the importance of nutrition and the profound connection between gut health and mental well-being. This fundraising initiative emphasizes the critical need for nutritional education against a backdrop of rising childhood obesity and mental health issues among youth in underserved communities.
