On Saturday, February 1st, nearly 300 fitness enthusiasts came together to breathe, burn, tone, and groove their way through WEforum’s fifth annual Fit Crawl. Hosted in partnership with Monmouth Medical Center/RWJ Barnabas Health, this year’s crawl was expanded to include a more comprehensive representation of health and wellness mediums, such as meditation, cryotherapy, and reiki; offering our participants the chance to become acquainted with a new fitness method or practice, or revisit a former love.
The Fit Crawl event model is unique and one of just a handful of its kind nationwide; an innovative approach to simultaneously unite like-minded health and wellness businesses with the community, all while fundraising for a great cause. All proceeds from the event are used to further WEforum’s mission to strengthen the health and wellness of our local communities by educating individuals and empowering them to make informed decisions. The funds raised will help to develop and support community programs and services that are free and accessible to all. These services are developed by Monmouth Medical Center (MMC), an RWJ Barnabas Health affiliate, and other community organizations.
Fit Crawl participants were eager to experience an inspiring day of health and wellness, and with their $60 registration donation, were able to sample up to three classes at some of Monmouth County’s top fitness studios. With 29 studios and centers participating from six local towns, the “crawlers” had no trouble finding a class that piqued their curiosity. Groups of friends carpooled from place to place to bond and sweat together before heading over to Triumph Brewery Co. in Red Bank, a generous sponsor of this year’s crawl, to trade tales of the day, collect their swag bags and sample amazing bites and libations, courtesy of our fabulous food vendors. And from the reactions of the participants at the post-crawl party, we have no doubt many will be returning to these food and fitness locales in the near future.
As Bill Lopez of Little Silver shared, “It was a well-organized event. The chance to sample different local fitness classes in addition to supporting such amazing organizations as WEforum and Monmouth Medical Center was totally a win-win for me!”
