Schedule time for fitness this holiday season. The holidays can be hectic and it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle during this time; you’ll need the energy to enjoy all of the parties and gatherings. Once your holiday party calendar is set, make sure to plan your fitness and recovery time too. You want to be ready to enjoy the New Year and be ahead of your goals for 2020!
The Pilates Project, Fair Haven
Sandi Vilacoba, Owner
The Pilates Project is a classical Pilates studio located in Fair Haven NJ. We offer private sessions and small group classes. We believe no two bodies are the same. Our focus is personalized instruction at every fitness level. With Pilates becoming a generic term, we want Fit Crawl participants to understand how attention to detail in traditional Pilates, along with accessing the muscles correctly, makes all the difference!
Incorporate fitness into your daily routine. During this busy holiday season, try to move as much as possible. Park your car in the worst parking spaces so you have to walk, take the stairs, and for goodness’ sake stand up straight! Hope to see you at Fit Crawl 2020!
Evolve Fitness and Training
Kelly Mahoney, Co-owner with Billy Dawson
Evolve Training & Fitness opened in September of 2015. We are a small personal and group training facility located in Tinton Falls, NJ. How do we balance fitness and fun over the holidays? At Evolve we practice and preach a BALANCED approach to health and fitness… meaning life is meant to be enjoyed. Hence, we do not need to spend the holidays worried about diet or workout routine. Staying healthy during the holidays is easy when it has become part of your lifestyle and your workout routine is fun!
No diets or quick fixes…it’s all about long-term, sustainable results. Keep up with your workouts, be mindful of your food choices and prioritize your time during this busy time of year, but don’t deprive yourself!
F45 Training, Shrewsbury
Erin Cornette, Owner
F45 Training is a 45-minute, class-only, Functional HIIT training studio. Functional meaning practicing the movements that you need to get through everyday life: squatting, pushing, pulling, hinging, lunging, twisting, and walking. The workouts are all designed to work in relation to each other so that you can exercise at an intense level, but without getting injured. The best part is that the workouts can be adapted for ANYONE, from the most intense fitness enthusiast to someone who has never set foot in a gym. I want Fit Crawl participants to appreciate that working out can be FUN! Our DJ-curated playlists pump so that you can get in the zone and enjoy working out in a way you never knew was possible!
What do I do to keep sane during the holidays and into the New Year? I pack small packets of healthy snacks to keep temptation at bay. I also incorporate short workouts into my day. This is a great way to set yourself up for success on a consistent basis.
Open Heart Yoga, Red Bank
Mary Ansell, Founder
Open Heart Yoga is a nonprofit studio in Red Bank’s West Side. We opened in May with the intention of providing greater access to yoga and mindfulness, helping to unite our community as we practice this gift of self-care together. With each single, weekly, monthly or yearly yoga package purchase, the same is given to a volunteer or recipient of a local charity or nonprofit organization. We hope our Fit Crawl participants leave feeling enriched and empowered, knowing they possess most every tool within to help themselves. Yoga, of course, helps you physically, but equally as important, it’s an inside job! Becoming more present, mindful, balanced, and strong, both on and off our mat, is a beautiful intention for our practice.
How do I make the most of the holiday season? Throughout the holiday season I try to remind myself that we don’t need much externally. I try to focus on experiences, on doing, rather than getting; and enriching myself from within. It’s good to regularly connect to your breath, noticing air entering and exiting your nostrils. This practice can calm you and instantaneously give you a sense of presence and calm, in the right now, in the moment. Stress is a part of life but connecting to the breath can help you become mindful and more resilient and live with an open heart.
Pyour Core, Little Silver
Carolyn Crane, Owner
Pyour Core Little Silver is a boutique-style, fully certified, state-of-the-art fitness facility that offers private Pilates sessions and a variety of group classes designed with core strength, flexibility and mobility in mind. We offer chiropractic care, physical therapy and nutritional counseling. Pyour Pour is our in-house, dietitian-driven, chef-inspired cafe offering juices, smoothies, espresso, acai bowls, and small, healthy bites. We hope Fit Crawl participants enjoy a unique experience that they will want to incorporate into their fitness schedule.
Any holiday tips? During the holidays, it’s important to drink lots of water. I also recommend lots of active play time with family: Twister, football, charades …games and activities that build memories together.
Eastside Bodyworks, Red Bank
Kelly Sheppard, Owner
Eastside Bodyworks is a stretch/Pilates, conditioning and stability studio. It‘s all about Pilates and stretching in silence, so that you can get in touch with your breath. We want everyone to feel happy and comfortable in our space, and to experience a good energy so they can reset. Clients give us hugs when they leave, and often form bonds and feel a sense of community.
How do I get the most out of the holiday season? During the holidays, it’s important to keep moving … to condition the lungs and the brain. And start working out now, not after the new year. To exercise moderation at parties, eat before you go so you aren’t tempted to gorge when you arrive! See you at Fit Crawl 2020!
