Keeping the “Garden” in the Garden State

September 2020

Although it may be easy to forget, especially when you’re waiting ten minutes on line in a strip mall to get into the Trader Joe’s, or battling traffic on the Parkway, there’s a reason New Jersey is dubbed the Garden State. Plenty of Jersey farms are still operational, with new ones popping up continually to feed the growing demand for organic, local and sustainable food sources. Since local produce is at its best right now, with an abundance of plump tomatoes, juicy peaches and sweet corn, WEforum thought we’d share some of New Jersey’s own sustainable producers. And it’s not just fruits and veggies these local purveyors are offering; you can find everything from local seafood to pasture-raised pigs. Whether you’re planning a quick trip to a nearby farmer’s market, thinking of joining a CSA, or looking for farm fresh dairy delivered right to your doorstep, check out this sampling of local farmers and producers working to help New Jersey live up to it’s moniker.

Note: This is in no way a comprehensive list of local food purveyors, just a sampling of what’s out there.
