By Christian Valeriani, Founder, Wiseman Project and EvenFlow Yoga
Founder and owner, Christian Valeriani, of EvenFlow Yoga in Fair Haven shares with us his new project focused on men’s health optimization, Wisemen Project. Conceptualized and launched with friend and business partner, Rich Ahlers, Wiseman was born out of a desire to share “proven natural techniques to improve the quality, performance and health of modern men.” Already a veteran of the health and fitness community, Christian has been sharing his love of self-transformation since EvenFlow Yoga opened in 2008 and he is excited to bring this new endeavor to those looking “to create a paradigm shift” in their lives in order to uncover the best version of their true selves. WEforum is proud to recognize EvenFlow Yoga as a partner and featured studio in our annual Fit Crawl, which takes place on Saturday, February 24th.
Wisemen is built upon six sacred pillars, which must coexist in harmony to reveal the true path to love, synchronicity, success and happiness.
One of the six sacred pillars of Wisemen is “Mind.” It is essential that we continuously explore, question, challenge, stimulate and rest our minds. How we train our minds will dictate the perception of much, if not all, of our experience of existence during our short time here. So yes, it is arguably very much a “terrible thing to waste.”
A powerful concept to grasp, when it comes to understanding our own minds, is that our identity and ego exist entirely within our own minds. They are simply perceived notions, not in fact an objective reality. Let that sink in for a moment (and feel free to read that again). Think you’re smart? Tall? Lonely? Powerful? Happy?… Compared to what!? And, could you not become “someone” entirely different tomorrow?
So, all your thoughts (fears, insecurities, anxieties, etc.) are not you; they exist only in your mind, continuously coming…and going. The great news is that armed with this knowledge (along with other Wisemen tools) you can learn to keep your thoughts at arms length and see them for what they truly are, just thoughts. They do not define you. Nothing does. Understanding this concept is the foundation upon which relief from suffering is built.
Here is a Wise-Tip: Breathe deep and slow through your nose, focusing on the rise and fall of your belly- it will bring you to the present moment, and out of your head. This can be a useful tool to escape a particularly dizzying bombardment of thoughts, or just to be more mindful in order to savor a moment of your brief, beautiful existence.
The Wisemen Project has modernized the approach to men’s health optimization. Our mindfully crafted movements in concert with deeply profound breathwork, resets the entire body, mind, and spirit. Our highly praised retreats are the perfect, short getaway to establish and maintain healthy habits. Cold plunging, sauna, yoga, qi gong, hiking, and lectures on the science behind our Eastern movement experience, is a simple snapshot of what you and your Wisemen brothers will experience and share in friendship. Explore our background and methods and programs aimed to help you reach your full potential and start living the life you truly deserve!
Christian, the owner of EvenFlow Yoga for over 17 years, teamed up with his buddy Rich Ahlers, a 36 year veteran of martial arts with a 20-year career in Pharmaceutical Medical Sales, to share their collective experience in science and spirituality with others through the Wisemen Project. Since its inception, they’ve experienced exponential results not only in their brotherhood but in their own lives as fathers, husbands and humans.
